  • mammoth adventures

mammoth was great. we got in three whole days of snowboarding and even though the weather was not always bright and sunny, the powdered snow made it a great experience.

however, every trip needs some kind of an unplanned adventure and ours happened to us on our last day.

the last day of snowboarding was probably the best in terms of the weather. the sky was clear and the snow was all powder. towards the end of the day, we realize that the lifts were going to close in 15 minutes and so we took a trail that would take us directly to back to eagle lodge. one problem: the trail was mostly flat and pretty narrow and we realized that we would have to walk. even worse, since snow had fallen a lot recently, you never knew when the snow would just give in and you would fall through.
    just like this:

cursing our whole way throughout the walk, we are swept up by the sweepers who check the runs to make sure no one is left on the mountains after all the lifts close and we finally see a normal run.

while boarding down the mountain, it hits me that no one else is on the mountain. we had the whole run to ourselves!

pretty amazing. despite the pain and tiredness we felt from our long trek through the snow while carrying our boards, going down that run with no one in front or behind us was totally worth it.

at least it was for me. :D
